Reflect
The play of light and shade is reminiscent of the cinema of the forties. The couture of that time inspires an elegance which finds itself in the silky pastels and the dark shades of the colour range.

For Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 2008 women’s ready-to-wear collection, Riccardo Tisci has taken his inspiration from Latin America, Peru.
He has combined Latin joie de vivre with his gothic aesthetic.
When he traveled Peru, he found the vivid pinks, the tobacco browns of gauchos, the alpaca blanket stripes and, and the patterned and colorful knits of Inca culture.
Fall/ Winter 2008 Ready-to-wear
Fall/Winter 2008 Couture
Here we can see the Latin savoir faire redefines French elegance in sharply tailored silhouettes in this new collection. The key look is skinny long legs with a surfeit of volume on top.
Such as the"Latin love" ruffles, frills and pleats.
*Fall/Winte 2008 ready-to-wear and couture *
Models worn with lace and pantsuits provides a feminine contrast to the collection’s masculine tailoring. Softer feminine shapes include a tone-on-tone pale aqua dress, tight at the waist with a fluted skirt finished with ribbon embroidery, glass beads and hand-embroidered eyelets, inspired by a turn-of-the-century corset.
Executed in a mostly monochrome color palette, the collection’s black and white symbolises the duality of hard and soft, history and modernity, which has come to represent the brand.
Romanticism
"I've been traveling in South America, and I discovered a romantic sensuality and elegance there I really identified with as a Catholic," said Tisci by way of explanation.
Let us take a look at the definition and the story behind the mood. The effect of Gothic fiction depends on a pleasing sort of terror, an extension of essentially Romantic literacy pleasures that were relatively new at the time of Walpole's novel.
Melodrama and parody (including self-parody) were other long-standing features of the Gothic initiated by Walpole. Gothic literature is intimately associated with the Gothic Revival archietecture of the same era.
In a way similar to the gothic revivalists' rejection of the clarity and rationalism of the neo-classical style of the Enlightened Establishment, the literary Gothic embodies an appreciation of the joys of extreme emotion, the thrills of fearfulness and awe inherent in the sublime, and a quest for atmosphere.
The ruins of gothic buildings gave rise to multiple linked emotions by representing the inevitable decay and collapse of human creations— thus the urge to add fake ruins as eyecatchers in English landscape parks.
English Protestants often associated medieval buildings with what they saw as a dark and terrifying period, characterized by harsh laws enforced by torture, and with mysterious, fantastic and superstitious rituals.
In literature such Anti-Catholicism had a European dimension featuring Roman Catholic excesses such as the Inquisition (in southern European countries such as Italy and Spain).
Prominent features of Gothic fiction include terror (both psychological and physical), mystery, the supernatural, ghosts, haunted houses and Gothic architecture, castles, darkness, death, decay, doubles, madness, secrets and hereditary curses. The stock characters of Gothic fiction include tyrants, villains, bandits, maniacs, Byronic heroes, persecuted maidens, femmes fatales, madwomen, magicians, vampires, werewolves, monsters, demons, revenants, ghosts, perambulating skeletons, the Wandering Jew and the Devil himself.

Givenchy fashion photography
Here is a set of very impressive photographs by Steven Meisel and Craig McDean.
On the screen is Photographer Inez van Lamsweerde, often partnered with her husband Vinoodh.
Inez appears in the shot with the model, the photo taken by her husband. The photographers are known for interacting with the model and capturing a moment of reality.
This is a larger trend in fashion photography, in order to show less fantasy and more of the natural beauty in this world. Inez recently completed a Before/After series commissioned by Vogue magazine.
This is a larger trend in fashion photography, in order to show less fantasy and more of the natural beauty in this world. Inez recently completed a Before/After series commissioned by Vogue magazine.
The series invited models to arrive at the studio without make up to be photographed. This is deconstruction of the fashion industry, tearing down the constructions of beauty and showing us nothing but reality is necessary. The amazing aspect of these photos is that the natural shots are in almost all instances more powerful and compete with the contrived photo and win our attention.
PersonalIy, I like this "shooting technique" , which shows us the natural face without makeup.

Rihanna styles in Givenchy Fall 2008 Necklace
Rihanna is one of my favorite singers, not only her special voice also her fashion style.
She always receive two thumbs up complements for her outstanding fashion and style and she is being regarded as the best dressed celebrities in People magazine’s 2008 Best Dressed List .
That’s why wherever and whenever she goes , she always stays trendy and fashion-forward, mixed with her own “sugar and spice” style! !
Here you can see on her black outfit, you can find very distinctive chained and metal necklace which designed from Givenchy Fall2008 Collection and she just sporting part of the whole.
The metal chained necklace with cross and charms is perfect matched with black turtleneck because it makes the necklace standing out!
Color Family
In our daily life, We can find different color patterns in Print Advertisment.
I have found different Vogue advertisements to futher my understanding of different color families.

The use of colors
Different color matching can produce different moods and emotions.
Different color matching can produce different moods and emotions.
For example you can see the combination of yellow & black, the two extremes of a bright color (yellow) and a dark color (black) causes the viewer to immediately focus on this picture.
When compare to the mix and match of blue & black which gives a sad feeling. The purple always gives out feeling of elegance.
Red gives us the feeling of excitment and energetic because red is always accociate with fire, sunshine. On the other hand, red can also represent danger which related with blood. So red should not be overused.
