Givenchy 2009 Fall Collection

Surfing around the Internet, I noticed Givenchys Fall 2009 collection.

I was quite impressed with the new direction Riccard Tisci has taken with his 'back to basics' approach.

This collection looks very modern and yet classic in a Hubert Givenchy way. He has channeled the original style exquisitely. Hubert would be proud.

You can see for yourself the silhoutte the models cast are quite flattering. Some of the show pieces, such as the dresses, I can see people wearing *outside* the show! (Which is a statment in itself)

Normally, you may associate beads with old grandmothers. This is definitely not the case for this fall! Tisci's use of fur and beads is simply beautiful. He has done a perfect mix and match. The fur and feather ruffles combine to become a very nice flowing set. The trousers are cut perfectly, its as if it was tailor made for the models themselves. You can see the video below to see the models in action.

Hip Luxury-Givenchy Spring2009

Riccardo Tisci, designer for Givenchy, caused mob scenes backstage in Paris. The push-and-shove to congratulate him after his show almost brought down a dividing wall—and to be honest, there's not much of that old-school mania around these days. What triggered it was a collection coined "Western Bondage." There is a thread of hard-core hip in Paris that is picking up that western theme and turning it in a glam-slam direction, and Givenchy brought it to the forefront with his Spring 2009 collection.

I absolutely love the way he made something western look sexy. Studs and animal hide look fabulous on his open toe, strappy heel. And the western theme detail in metallic silver and gold is the ultimate in western chic. The bondage theme is evident in the metal hardware on the front of the shoe. It is as if the foot is locked in the shoe. To complete this fantastic design, Tisci put the zipper on the heel of the shoe, yet another sexy eye catcher for these shoes.

A separate panel of fabric is gathered and attached to the back of the dress at the base of the shoulder blades forming a short train. The dress fastens at the back with buttons, all of which are hidden beneath the train which is itself topped by a decorative bow. Riccardo Tisci 7 life key words

In 1995, that is the year Hubert de Givenchy retired, Riccardo Tisci join Givenchy group to. During the following 10 years, Givenchy had replace the designed directors three times. In 2004, RiccardoTisci was fortunated enough to become the fourth successor.

1. Childhood
"I was born in a Catholic family. I have eight elder sisters, while my father eager to have a son. Seems to be fate, after a while when I was born, his father had died. My family lost the support for live, in order to earn the tuition fees, I started working at 16-year-old . 17-year-old, I first came to London, it was so strange to me but this decision had became my turning point in my life. "

2. Art
"At first my goal is to become an art teacher, but then I fell in love with fashion. However, the background of art had a far-reaching impact to me. Not just those greatest artists in the history of art had effects on me, but also included those like Mathew Barney Contemporary artists. "

3. Beautiful
"Beautiful is not just from a single element, it is like an emotional Philharmonic. My primary goal is not to make some beautiful things, but let those wear my design ladies to show their women bodies. I believe that beauty was born with body language. Hubert de Givenchy give comfort to fashion. Models were able to move freely after wearing his clothes, even the most narrow-thin clothes. He obtain inspiration from the customer. Givenchy not only relates to beauty and stylish, but the most important thing was dynamic. I am not aim at designing trend, I just want to express my styles through the beautiful clothes, while women feel good at the same time. "

4. Italy, Britain, France
"I am proud of having 100% Italy DNA . But I get all my attribute from United Kingdom. In UK, you can get support as long as you have talent. I do not speak English, but was allowed to attend Central St. Martin's College, with student scholarship. Today, I came to Paris, my goal is to become part of the city, I would like to enter the world of Hubert de Givenchy. I am a 34-year-old Italian, bearing a world-known famous French fashion brand designer task, this all just like a dream! "

5. Woman
"Women are always my lucky star, my mother was first, I think she should get the Nobel Prize!" She always encouraged me to believe myself and follow our goals. My sisters are also very supportive to me.
After graduation, I began to do couture, customers including Bjork and Kylie Minogue. I change my house into a studio, treat the customer as a family member. I grew up with nine women so I knew woman very well, I would like to see their beautiful appearance. My Muse Maria Carla Boscono is my good friend and also my source of inspiration. I would naturally think a particular woman when I make a design. "

6.Hubert de Givenchy
"Most people get inspiration from the clothes that Hubert de Givenchy designed for Audrey Hurperns, but that was only a part of his creative talent. I think his peak was the time during 1950 to 1970. He was a true pioneer , he is the first design of the Paris women's Bermuda shorts and white sports jacket with a short straight skirt body, he also invented the printing 'wig hair scarf'.
Hubert de Givenchy left a real gold mine to Givenchy, and I found that he and I have much in common. We all like black leather and matte texture. We all do not like printing, but he can use the embroidery to exquisite light onto a simple clothes, and I agree with him very much. "

7.T-Stage
"In fact, I personally have been a bit tired of releasing the fashion show. It can not show many things in the performance of that 10 minutes , everything happened so fast! And I would like to show every aspect of clothing, I design not only in appearance, a sense of detail and size. I think expressing a story is equally important to create a mood. Designers should have the right to choose the most suitable form of expression. "
Riccardo Tisci's this season inspiration is the Latin and Givenchy consistent with the elegance form of Gothic-style. The entire collection reflected the South American's self-confidence, sense of aesthetic and religious worship.
Color inspiration also comes from the Latin American-style fashion. Designers use golden metal to light up large areas of light beige and rich black. A large number of chain was used as a decorative necklace and ruffle. People seem to think that it is a lucky necklace with a curse.

Hot Ads of 2008 GIVENCHY MENSWEAR CAMPAIGN

Givenchy Menswear Campaign with Mathias Lauridsen Ph. Willy Vanderperre
Willy Vanderperre shoots the Givenchy Menswear Spring Summer2008 Ad Campaign featuring sexy male model Mathias Lauridsen. Mathias Lauridsen hails from Denmark and is currently one of the most consistent male models (Top 50 Sexiest Male models) in the last three years.

Gothic Sytle

Riccardo Tisci was raised in an extreme catholic family, I think this is a main factore that affect his designs at the ealy day of life in church or about medieval style, such as the gothic paintings and the gothic building syle of the church.

Also, when he was born, his father died and his mothers needed to raise 9 children including 8 girls and him.Personally this provided him a chance to observe the nature or the beauty inside women and the tough side of a woman.

Therefore he is capable in giving different image of a woman, like the tough and glam look in 2008 fall ready to waer and bloody but sexy look fall ready to wear in 2006.

To conclude, designer's history affects the design and the use of colour.Black, not only is the symbol of elegance, but also about something dark, something like gothic, something powerful.Thats why black is always the main colour of Givenchy designs.

GIVENCHY STYLE

As soon as Parfums Givenchy was founded in 1957, it became identified with what is now a legendary story: the meeting of Hubert de Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn, a charming young star of American cinema. Together, they invented the "Givenchy Style", in which French elegance meets American glamour, a combination of light-hearted sophistication and dazzling modernity.
Hubert de Givenchy created his first fragrance,L'Interdit, in homage to the delicate, romantic, big-hearted femininity of Audrey Hepburn.

A piggy back in Givenchy

Prize for most striking F/W06 ad campaign goes to Givenchy.
The equestrian thing for the previous season seems like it's sticking with the fallen down jump poles in the back ground and Stella Tennant giving Mariacarla Boscono a piggy back. Stella Tennant even has the dressage down to perfection.
Loving the obvious symbolism too - the older veteran in the modelling industry hoisting up the younger generation.
